EarlyPT™ works by detecting a pregnancy hormone called hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin), which shows up in your urine about 10 days after your egg is fertilized. When the test detects HCG in your urine, two pink lines will appear in the results window indicating a positive pregnancy test.
The best time to use an early pregnancy test is 4 days before the 1st day of your expected next period. However, EarlyPT™ is very sensitive. 80% of pregnant women tested accurately 6 days before their missed period, or 5 days before the first day of next period.
1. Remove the cap and set it aside – you’ll use it again soon.
2. With the test pointed down, pee on the absorbent tip for 5 seconds to ensure it is thoroughly wet.
3. Replace the cap and lay the test on a flat surface with the results window facing up.
4. Wait 5 minutes before reading your results but read before 15 minutes. After 15 minutes your results may not be accurate.
5. Read your results. One line means you’re not pregnant; two lines mean you’re likely pregnant.
Test again in 24-48 hours to confirm your results.
You can take the test any time. If possible, try taking it first thing in the morning because the hCG concentration, the pregnancy hormone, is highest at this time.
You should read the test result after 5 minutes but before 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the result may not be accurate.
Early pregnancy tests may miss 1 in 100 pregnancies, leading to false negatives. We recommend you wait and retest in 24 hours. If results remain negative but you suspect pregnancy, consult a healthcare professional. If you are in any pain, please seek medical attention.
If there are no lines in the results window, there may be an error with the test. We recommend repeating the test with a new stick. Please ensure enough urine is soaked up by the test strip.
The test should not be affected by common medications such as pain killers or antibiotics.
Current use of hormonal contraception will not affect test results.
